Although based upon Shibashi Qigong, the set practiced in our sessions is done at a more calming pace, helping us to slow down, giving us time to think about what our body is doing, enabling us to relax into the movements and prevent injury, which makes it safe for beginners and people of all ages and abilities.
The sequence takes the body through a gentle process of rebuilding, clearing and restoring, helping the body to ease, repair and rejuvenate. The 18 movements are energetically balanced to be done as a complete set and are designed to improve the flow and balance of qi within the body.
Each movement is repeated several times, making it easy to follow, and each one has specific health benefits. The gentle rocking motions and stretching movements improve circulation and digestion. The chest exercises and controlled breathing are good for lung conditions and asthma, and the overall effect of the set is to reduce mental stress and physical tension within the body.
These sessions are designed for everyone to do within their own comfort zone, without causing stress on the body, or forcing it to achieve bigger or faster movements and we encourage everyone to move at their own pace.
Learning any new thing can be challenging and daunting at first. Our Be Well Qigong sessions are relaxed, enjoyable, and easy to learn and follow.
Some people will want to learn and develop their practice over the weeks, months, years of attendance. Others will want to just turn up each week, be in the moment, and enjoy the gentle movement and time to relax. It is your Qigong session to join in, in whatever way suits you.
What to Wear
The beauty of these sessions is that you don't need any special clothing or equipment. It can be practiced in flat, comfortable shoes, non slip socks or barefeet and you can wear any loose comfortable clothing.
