Please reach us at info@bewellqigong.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Both Tai Chi and Qigong involve flowing movements and the cultivating of qi energy, and both are popular practices for health and wellbeing. You may find some of the movements and standing positions familiar, as we do use some Tai Chi form standing positions in our sessions. However, Tai Chi form is performed as a series of different moves, where each move is done once and leads directly into another, which requires the moves to be learnt precisely, and as a sequence. Tai Chi moves are also more complex, stemming from its martial nature.
In our Qigong sessions, each movement can be viewed as a stand alone move, which is repeated several times. It is simpler than Tai Chi and less rigid in its practice and is therefore much easier to learn, especially if you are someone who struggles to pick up steps and routines (like I do!). In our sessions there is no requirement to learn and remember any of the moves, as each move is demonstrated and repeated about 6-8 times, before we move on to the next movement. Through regular practice, the moves become more familiar and are learnt in a more organic way over time.
Payment by bank transfer at the time of booking, is our preferred payment method. However, if this option is not available to you, we will discuss an alternative method with you when you book.
If you need to cancel your booking, your payment will be used to pay for your next session, or a refund given, whichever is applicable. Please give us as much notice as possible, so that we may offer the space to someone on our waiting list, if fully booked. If weekly sessions are booked and then cancelled repeatedly without notice, preventing someone else from attending, then that session may be charged for.
You do not need to bring anything with you, but you may wish to bring a bottle of water. Wear any loose comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and either flat comfortable shoes or socks with a non slip sole. Or you can do it in bare feet if you prefer.
Our sessions are gentle and we encourage all participants to listen to their bodies throughout the session and to only do moves that are within their comfort zone. If you have a specific medical condition or injury, we would advise that you speak with your doctor before taking part.
For Monday lunchtime sessions at Heene Community Centre, there is free parking available in their car park and 2 hour on street parking bays in Winchester Road. You are also permitted to park in the residents parking scheme bays, outside of the restricted times of 10-11am and 2-3pm. There are no on street parking restrictions in the roads on the western side of Heene Road.
